The Houston Rockets are one of the bottom-dwellers of the NBA’s Western Conference. The team has several exciting rookies but is undeniably in a rebuilding stage. Eric Gordon, a 14-year NBA veteran, is a little out of place on their roster.

The Lakers roster has plenty of needs, but the primary is to add more spacing, given they employ Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis, and LeBron James as their stars. Despite all three players’ undeniable talent, none of them is particularly effective from deep. Like former teammate PJ Tucker, he’d fit nicely on a contender with his defensive abilities and three-point shooting.
The Lakers need to add spacing to build a championship team around their three stars. Eric Gordon could be the perfect player for the franchise to acquire. Not only would Gordon’s shooting be a considerable boost for LA, but the guard should be relatively easy to acquire.

Players who shoot as well as Gordon often aren’t available, but considering the state of the Rockets, they may be eager to move on from him.
The Lakers have several young players who might be of interest to a Houston team looking for its future stars. Talen Horton-Tucker is a promising young player who has struggled to crack the Lakers’ win-now rotation.

Kendrick Nunn missed the entire season but was key to the Miami Heat’s NBA Finals run in 2020. LA doesn’t have much draft capital to offer, but some combination of their young players could be enough to nab Gordon.
Eric Gordon hasn’t publicly voiced displeasure with the Houston Rockets, but the guard didn’t play in the team’s final eight games this season. In need of spacing, the Los Angeles Lakers should monitor his status this offseason. As Houston looks toward the future, Gordon may be on his way out.
