Would This Trade Make Sense For The Philadelphia 76ers?
In the immediate future, this deal would be a huge boost for the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Sixers’ playoff struggles emphasized the need for more scoring outlets on the team. Tobias Harris, though he had a productive postseason, isn’t a perfect fit on the team. Embiid singlehandedly dominates the paint and would benefit more from teammates with outside scoring ability.
Enter Zach LaVine. A projected starting lineup of Tyrese Maxey, Danny Green, James Harden, LaVine, and Embiid would be a devastating offensive unit. If the 76ers are able to upgrade Danny Green to a wing-sized player, even better.
LaVine and Harden have the size to guard positions 1-4, particularly with Embiid locking down the paint. Defensively, the unit would have the personnel to limit the opposing offense’s looks.
Offensively, the team would have four starters capable of scoring over 30 points on any given night. Embiid averaged over 30 this season, Harden has done so in the past. Maxey showed impressive scoring outbursts this season, and LaVine’s scoring has made him an All-Star each of the past two seasons.
