Would This Trade Make Sense For The Memphis Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies were the surprise of the NBA this season. Behind Most Improved Player Ja Morant, the Grizzlies won 56 games and earned the 2-seed in the Western Conference.
The Grizzlies roster is incredibly deep, stuffed with gritty defenders and tough bucket-getters. On paper, the roster doesn’t seem as good as they are. But they seem to thrive when the odds are against them – they went an astonishing 20-5 this season in games that Ja Morant missed.
Memphis could be the perfect environment for Myles Turner. Sending away Steven Adams and draft capital wouldn’t affect the team’s roster or rotations all too much. Meanwhile, Turner would fit right in at the five.
Turner would form a dynamic duo of shot-blocking, deep-shooting bigs with Jaren Jackson Jr. Jackson Jr., who played at the four alongside Adams a lot this season, averaged 2.3 blocks and 1.6 3PM this season. His numbers are remarkably similar to Turner’s, who averaged 2.8 and 1.5 in those categories.

A duo of Turner and Jackson Jr. would erase shots on a regular basis, and would still have the defensive versatility to hang with small-ball teams. On offense, the two could space the floor effectively, or run pick-and-roll/pick-and-pop actions with Ja Morant.
Teams have a hard enough time containing Morant/Adams pick-and-rolls – imagine them with a center who can hit from three!
