The offseason came much earlier than the Los Angeles Lakers were expecting. As we near the start of the Eastern and Western Conference Finals, the Lakers are in full NBA offseason mode preparing for potential roster changes to get LeBron James more help.
Last season, the major target was Russell Westbrook. He was acquired from the Washington Wizards in exchange for Kyle Kuzma and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
The move sacrificed depth and defensive prowess in the rotation. It showed early and often for the Lakers as they fell to the bottom of the pack and out of the playoffs.
This time around, it can be more rotation pieces that are targeted. The Lakers have hit plenty of home runs but that is not needed this time around. Unless they can find a major point guard on the block, the Lakers should focus on filling out the rotation and the bench.

Los Angeles would greatly appreciate the chance to acquire a talent like Damian Lillard or Bradley Beal, but it is unlikely either is moved this offseason. The Lakers likely will have to look elsewhere in order to build a winning team back up.
When looking at some potential trade pieces, there are some options that stick out right away for the Los Angeles Lakers.
