John Wall is expected to pick up his $47 million player option this NBA offseason. Wall hasn’t played much since he was dealt to the Houston Rockets. Should he pick up his option and remain in Houston, that would likely continue to be the case.
The one scenario that Wall would leave Houston is a buyout, but he and the Rockets need to be willing to negotiate. If it were to occur the point guard would be free to sign anywhere in the NBA. Per Bleacher Report, the LA Clippers would be a likely destination.
“If Wall is bought out, he would join the pool of unrestricted free agents, and league sources have mentioned the Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat as possible landing spots. The Clippers have more question marks at point guard, which could mean he’d get more minutes and exposure there.”
The LA Clippers have been on the edge of contention for the last few seasons. LA has managed this feat despite frequent injuries to their key stars. Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, should they put together a healthy season, would make the Clippers among the league’s title favorites.

Despite recent success, Los Angeles has struggled to find an answer at point guard. The Clippers acquired point guard Eric Bledsoe last offseason but dealt him to Portland not long after. Should Houston buy Wall out, the guard could be a perfect fit for LA.
Wall hasn’t played regular minutes since the 2017-18 season when he averaged 19.4 points and 9.6 assists per game. After substantial time off, Wall could return to the double-digit assist player he proved to be in Washington.

John Wall would fill a need for the LA Clippers, but not on his current contract. Should he accept the deal as expected, a buyout would be necessary to get Wall to Los Angeles.
