Following their exit from the postseason, the Utah Jazz are a team expected to make major changes this offseason. Similar to what the Portland Trail Blazers did at the trade deadline, Utah could potentially part ways with some of their core pieces in an attempt to shake things up. One big name that everyone is watching heading into the NBA offseason is Donovan Mitchell, and the Miami Heat could consider making a move to trade for him.

The main thing the basketball community is waiting for is what the Jazz plan to do regarding their two All-Stars. Seeing as though another playoff run fell short of expectation, it may be time to split up the duo of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert.

One team keeping a close eye on the All-Star guard is the Miami Heat. It’s also worth noting that Mitchell was recent courtside in Philadelphia for the Heat’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers.

“[Julius] Randle is a Dallas native, but [William] Wesley and [New York] Knicks president Leon Rose were hired away from CAA, the agency that represents Mitchell, to pilot the franchise,” wrote Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer. “And New York’s front office has so far been unable to deliver the All-Star talent coups that organizations expect former agents-turned-executives such as Bob Myers and Rob Pelinka to deliver. The Miami Heat are being mentioned as another franchise that’s closely monitoring Mitchell’s status in Utah.”

If the Jazz were looking to embrace a youth movement, Miami could be an interesting trade partner. Not only is their roster littered with promising young talent, but Sixth Man of the Year Tyler Herro could make a great headline piece in a trade for Mitchell. After taking a massive step forward this year, his value has never been higher.

For Miami, bringing in Mitchell expands their championship window. Jimmy Butler is still performing at a high level, but father time is undefeated. Bringing in another star on the rise will help him age gracefully when Mitchell and Bam Adebayo are at their apex.
