How This Trade Impacts Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets are going to be hard-pressed to add impact talent to their roster this offseason. They are luckily committed to the Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving duo and have to get creative when filling out the roster around them.
Ben Simmons would seem to be a good fit alongside them with his defense and playmaking, two things they could certainly use more of. But he could also be the best chance they have of bringing in more talent.
This deal with the New York Knicks could very well be the best trade package that they can get in exchange for Simmons. Julius Randle and Alec Burks would both be excellent additions to help lengthen the rotation.
Randle would provide a huge upgrade to the team’s frontcourt. A team on which he is the No. 1 option will have some inconsistencies, which the Knicks have learned. But, as the No. 3 option, he could be downright scary with his skill set.

Burks is another excellent addition to the wing. He showed that he is capable of running the offense for stretches of time and is a knockdown shooter, something that would play well alongside Durant and Irving. He also has the size to play a switching defense.
The 2023 second-rounder provides Brooklyn with some much-needed draft capital. After landing two first-round picks from the Philadelphia 76ers as well, the Nets have some ammunition to make a trade should a player become available that would help improve their roster.
