New York Knicks Receive: G/F Ben Simmons
Brooklyn Nets Receive: F Julius Randle, G/F Alec Burks, 2023 Second-Round Pick
This hypothetical trade was put together by Greg Swartz over at Bleacher Report. He put together one new trade idea for every team in the NBA and this is the one that he came up with from the perspective of the New York Knicks.
The Knicks’ 2021-22 season did not go as planned, either. While they didn’t have championship aspirations like the Brooklyn Nets, people were hopeful they would continue building upon their strong 2020-21 season. That did not happen, as they took a step back.
This trade would put them back on the timeline, unloading some veterans and bringing in a younger player. Ben Simmons is only 25 and would be an interesting addition to what is already an intriguing group of young players that the Knicks have compiled in recent seasons.
This is a relatively cheap price for New York to take a chance on someone with Simmons’ potential. Julius Randle is someone that seems to need a change of scenery after some rough patches during this past season. Alec Burks was arguably the most consistent Knick, even taking over the starting point guard role despite naturally being a wing player.

The second-round pick is a good touch for the Nets, who are lacking draft capital and the Knicks can afford to part ways with some as they have done a good job stockpiling it under Leon Rose.
How does this deal impact each team? Let’s take a look at this trade from each team’s perspective, starting with the New York Knicks.
