NBA Analysis Network

When the Houston Rockets acquired Christian Wood, they were in a much different position. Jalen Green did not project as likely to join a team that, at the time, rostered NBA superstars James Harden and Russell Westbrook.

Life comes at you fast in the NBA. Westbrook requested a trade. Harden followed suit shortly after. Suddenly, the team was left with a big man who figured to thrive alongside two elite ball-handlers. Left to his own devices, he’s proven less effective.

Wood is not suited to be a primary offensive weapon. He’s an elite tertiary option. He’s a combo big that can roll or pop off of screens in equal measure. What he is not is an effective isolation scorer. Wood would be better suited for a situation where he had his James Harden.

Enter Luka Doncic.
