D’Angelo Russell’s 2021-22 NBA season could be counted as a success or a failure. It simply depends on who you ask.
On the one hand, Russell averaged 18.1 points and 7.1 assists with just 2.5 turnovers per game over the regular season. His steady hand at point guard was a large reason why the Wolves earned a playoff berth.
On the other hand, his play suffered once they actually got to the postseason.
Once there, he averaged 12.0 points per game on a woefully inefficient 45.5% True Shooting % (TS%) while dishing out 6.7 assists on 2.8 turnovers per game. His Wolves lost what often looked like a winnable series against the Grizzlies in six games.
