Pascal Siakam enjoyed a great 2021-22 NBA season with the Toronto Raptors. In 68 games, the 6-year veteran averaged 22.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. That last mark was a career-high for Siakam, reflecting an improved capacity for playmaking.
Surely, the Raptors have no intention of moving on from Siakam?
It’s unlikely. It isn’t impossible. After all, the Raptors do roster another big playmaking wing, and he happens to be eight years younger.
Could the emergence of Scottie Barnes motivate the Toronto Raptors to deal Siakam? One could make the case that the Raptors would be well served to seek better floor balance. As constructed, they roster a surplus of quality wings, and lack for big men and, outside of Fred VanVleet and Gary Trent Jr., guards.

They may not see that as an issue. If there’s a player type worth doubling down on in the modern NBA, it’s wing/forwards.
On the other hand, if they’re looking to diversify their assets and focus a rebuild around Barnes, they may look to move Siakam. The Portland Trail Blazers might be a perfect suitor for the All-Star forward in that event.
