Worst Landing Spot: Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder are in the midst of their “process,” one that has an ambiguous ending and produces some very questionable basketball.
Throughout their accumulation of draft picks and young talent, the Thunder haven’t seemed to identify a true big man that they’re confident in for the future. That could change if they’re in a position to acquire Chet Holmgren in the upcoming draft.
Holmgren seems to fit the mold of a Sam Presti wunderkind — making the Thunder a team to keep an eye on. He has an extremely high ceiling, plays an unconventional role, is an extremely versatile player, and could be overlooked by several players who fear his question marks.
For the Thunder, though, he might carry too heavy of a burden on both ends of the court than he can handle as a rookie. Without another frontcourt building block, Chet might be deployed as a starting center and underwhelm as a result — or even have his body fail him when trying to slow down true back-to-the-basket NBA centers.

Also, the Thunder’s process might instill a losing mentality into Holmgren. The psychology of expecting to lose games has yet to be studied in young prospects and could cause real damage in his confidence and ultimately slow his development.
