NBA Analysis Network

The Charlotte Hornets are entering a very important offseason. They lost in the NBA Play-In Tournament for the second consecutive season, getting blown out again. This time it was at the hands of the Atlanta Hawks after it was the Indiana Pacers last season.

Despite the disappointing end during the NBA Play-In Tournament, the 2021-22 season was a success for Charlotte. They increased their win total by 10 games over last season, finishing with a record above the .500 mark for the first time since the 2015-16 campaign.

Things are about to get very expensive in Charlotte, which will dictate how they make moves this offseason. Miles Bridges is going to get a huge raise as a restricted free agent after his breakout season. P.J. Washington is extension eligible this season as well, while LaMelo Ball is in line for a max extension next offseason.

That could lead to the front office looking to move some long-term salary this offseason.

One player that has come up as a possible trade target is Terry Rozier. Rozier signed an extension in August of 2021 that will keep him under contract through the 2025-26 season.

The Hornets could now be second-guessing that extension, knowing they want to retain some of their younger players. One team that could be willing to take on the extra years on Rozier’s contract is the Los Angeles Lakers.
