Now that the season is over, the Houston Rockets can look for options for former NBA All-Star John Wall.

Before the season began, Wall made it clear that he would not play for the Rockets, making it the second entire season in three years that Wall has missed.

Despite wanting out of Houston, Wall opted into his player option for next season because he is owed $47 million. The other came in 2019-20 when he was out with an Achilles injury. Wall and the Rockets can now both explore options for a buyout.

Wall is 31-years-old, but it seems like he is older given his injury history. Last season, Wall had to return to the court for the Rockets to show that he can still play the game at a high level. He averaged 20.6 points and 6.9 assists in action.

The Rockets decided to hang onto Wall because they did not find a trade partner at the deadline. This does not mean that he will be returning because it is clear he does not want to play in Houston.

At this point of his career, if healthy, Wall should be in a big market that is interested in winning. He has been linked to many teams that could use some help at the top of the offense. Wall can step into a starting role or provide depth along the perimeter, depending on the team’s current situation.

When and if Wall is bought out of Houston, these three teams might be interested in giving him a call during the offseason.
