With the 2021-22 NBA season already entering the playoffs, many teams are already looking ahead to the upcoming offseason. While there are not a ton of stars available in free agency, there is one big name to watch in Chicago Bulls star guard Zach LaVine. One team to keep a close eye on in his potential market could be the Dallas Mavericks.

Over the last couple of years, the Mavs have been looking to make a big swing to add a star alongside Luka Doncic. Being able to sign a talent like LaVine would immediately make Dallas a top-notch contender in the Western Conference.

In an article from Dalton Trigg of Dallas Basketball, the Mavericks were suggested as a legitimate free agency destination for LaVine.

Could the next big opportunity for the Mavs to add a superstar player next to Luka Doncic be dependent on how the Chicago Bulls finish out their season? More specifically, could Zach LaVine leave the Windy City if his team makes a much earlier postseason exit than anticipated?

Granted, this is all speculation, but it’s intriguing speculation. A move to the Mavericks could absolutely make sense for LaVine. If the Bulls don’t finish the season out strong in the playoffs, moving on could be an option.

Even for the Bulls, parting ways with LaVine would not be a death sentence. DeMar DeRozan has become the face of the offense and building around him and Nikola Vucevic could be an option. Chicago does not have to spend huge on LaVine if they don’t think they absolutely need him.

During the 2021-22 season with the Bulls, LaVine ended up averaging 24.4 points per game to go along with 4.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists. He shot 47.6 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 38.9 percent of his three-point attempts. Those numbers are valuable and a team like the Mavericks would love to get their hands on him.

With all of that being said, the Zach LaVine market is going to be hot. If he actually considers leaving the Bulls, there will be plenty of teams knocking on his door to offer a big contract. Don’t be surprised if the Mavericks are among those teams in free agency.
