How This Trade Impacts Atlanta Hawks
The Atlanta Hawks are likely going to look to shake the roster up this offseason. They have plenty of depth and could be better off consolidating the roster. They began that process trading Cam Reddish to the New York Knicks this season, but there is plenty of work left.
The current construction of the roster got hot at the right time during the 2020-21 season, as their ceiling doesn’t look to be as high as thought. Acquiring Zion Williamson from the New Orleans Pelicans, however, would certainly bring the potential of the team to another level.
Collins is a solid player but he doesn’t have the upside that Williamson possesses. Pairing Williamson with Trae Young could give the Hawks the superstar duo that they are on the search for.
Williamson’s health is a major question mark, so the Hawks may look to mitigate their losses by offering fewer first-round draft picks.

Putting some protections on them is a way to find a middle ground with the Pelicans. New Orleans has zero motivation to trade Williamson however, so Atlanta has to get their attention and this is a package that would accomplish that.
Along with Williamson, the Hawks are getting Devonte’ Graham, who will provide some scoring and playmaking off the bench, filling a major void. Jaxson Hayes has had some flashes and will slot into the lineup behind Clint Capela.
