After being sidelined since Jan. 8 due to an ankle injury, Memphis Grizzlies guard Dillon Brooks made his return to the team’s lineup. The original expectation was for him to miss 4-to-6 weeks, but it ended up being far longer beyond the NBA All-Star break.
Brooks wasted no time making an impact for the Grizzlies in his return—contributing to their 125-118 win at Paycom Center. He stepped right back into the starting lineup next to Ja Morant and Desmond Bane on the perimeter and racked up 15 points and four assists in 26 minutes against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Grizzlies had been starting Ziaire Williams on the wing while Brooks was sidelined. The lack of shooting consistency was limiting, along with his limitations as much of a threat to be a factor doing anything off the dribble within the half-court.
As the Grizzlies continue to vie for the second seed in the Western Conference standings, getting Dillon Brooks back into the fold will only help their outlook of doing so. The Golden State Warriors will have Draymond Green back into the fold this week and that should give their main competitor a big boost.
