3 Offseason Trade Targets For Cavaliers Involving Kevin Love

Kevin Love, Cleveland Cavaliers, NBA Trade Rumors

One of the biggest surprises of the 2021-22 NBA season has been how well the Cleveland Cavaliers have played this season and the fact that they are going to be going to the playoffs for the first time since 1998 without LeBron James on their team.

Writing their own history without LeBron being a part of it, the Cavaliers are way ahead of schedule for where many thought they were in their rebuilding process, and despite all the injuries they have faced this season, they are a team that nobody wants to face in a seven-game series because of how hard they fight.

Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley, Lauri Markkanen, Isaac Okoro, and Caris LeVert make up one of the younger groups in the entire league, but defensively, the Cavaliers rank 4th in the entire league and have proven that they can hang with the “top dogs” in the Eastern Conference this season, as they have wins over Bucks, Heat, Celtics, and Bulls.

No matter what happens the rest of the regular season and in the playoffs, the 2021-22 season has been a huge success for the Cleveland Cavaliers as an organization and they will go into the offseason looking for ways to better themselves long-term.

The status of Collin Sexton is a big question mark for this franchise to answer, as he is set to become a restricted free agent, as is the future of veteran forward Kevin Love.

Entering the 2021-22 season, there was a lot of speculation about if Kevin Love would even play for the Cavaliers and yet he entered the season with a new positive energy to himself and has been one of the better bench players in the league this season.

Fully embracing his “sixth-man” role on this young team, Love has been a catalyst offensively off-the-bench for the Cavaliers all year long, but he will be entering the final year of his contract.

Set to make $28.9 million next season, the Cavaliers could possibly explore opportunities to move Kevin Love’s contract in the offseason. While it is not fully necessary to do given the veteran’s production this year, the Cavaliers may need to try and move Love in order to free up immediate cap space.

While some of these moves do not free up cap space, here are three offseason trade targets for Cleveland to explore in a possible Kevin Love trade.
