The 2021-22 NBA season has been a complete disaster for the New York Knicks and while they still have a chance to reach the playoffs, as they are just 3.5 games out from 10th place in the standings, the Knicks need to be turning their focus to the future.
Reaching the playoffs last season as the 4-seed, Julius Randle being an All-Star and Tom Thibodeau winning Coach of the Year seems like ages ago for this franchise, as uncertainty and losing once again clouds this franchise.
Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier were the team’s two big signings in the offseason, but neither player has really lived up to the hype placed upon them, and now, Walker is going to be sidelined for the rest of the season, first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Julius Randle has not looked like the same All-Star talent that he was last season and with virtually no reliable offensive talents, the Knicks’ need for an All-Star talent is very apparent.

Heading into the offseason, the Knicks are committed to about $120 million in total salaries, but they do have plenty of moveable contracts.
Evan Fournier ($18 million), Derrick Rose ($14.5 million), Alec Burks ($10 million), Nerlens Noel ($9.2 million) and Kemba Walker ($9.1 million) could all be included in multiple trade packages for the Knicks to go out and try to add another max-contract type of talent.
Maybe they will not add another star player this upcoming offseason, but these are three All-Stars that the Knicks must have on their radar.
