Portland Trail Blazers
Many are expecting the Portland Trail Blazers to go through a big rebuilding process, but they have put themselves in a position to be very aggressive this offseason.
Trading CJ McCollum, Norman Powell and Robert Covington was necessary for this team not only to free up cap space to re-sign Anfernee Simons to a big deal, but to add some more high-level talents around Simons and Damian Lillard long-term.
Expected to have a payroll close to $100 million for next season entering the offseason, the Trail Blazers can technically open up enough cap space for another max-contract player and better yet, they would be able to go after Zion Williamson in trade talks.
Who they would offer to New Orleans would be a major question seeing as the two sides just made a big trade involving CJ McCollum at the trade deadline, but Portland has draft picks and could get a third or fourth team involved to get the Pelicans another “win-now” piece in favor of Zion.

The idea of pairing Zion Williamson with Damian Lillard definitely has to be intriguing for the Portland Trail Blazers at this point in time and what is very interesting is the fact that Zion has been rehabbing in the Portland area.
Being familiar with the area already and doing his rehab in Portland, it could make a lot of sense for Zion Williamson to want to join the Trail Blazers, should he request a trade.
