The 2021-22 NBA season has been full of high-level play and compared to previous seasons, it is very clear to see that the talent-level across the league has grown exponentially.

Every team does not have an All-Star, but there is at least one player in each organization that you could point to and say that they either have All-Star potential or simply that they are an All-Star!

More and more talented, athletic prospects are entering the NBA through the draft and the gap has been closed between the top teams in the league and the bottom-tier teams. Of course, there are still teams like the Magic, Pistons and Rockets who are rebuilding, but each of these three teams have very talented young players and any given team can win on any given night right now.

This truly is a great time to be a fan of the NBA, but one thing that is clear around the league is that teams are starting to look at pairing All-Star talents with each other long-term.

The idea of forming a “superteam” has been around for quite some time, as you could go all the way back to the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers with Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West and Gail Goodrich! In today’s NBA though, forming All-Star duos and sometimes trios has become second nature to general managers and front-office executives around the NBA.

The 1971-72 Lakers won a championship with multiple All-Stars, the 2007-08 Celtics won a championship with Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett, the Miami Heat won back-to-back titles in 2011 and 2012 with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, and the list goes on and on of All-Star pairings being successful in the NBA.

Right now, both the Eastern and Western Conferences have plenty of talent, but the top teams in each conference have some of the best All-Star pairings in the league.
