Will Trade For Ben Simmons Save Brooklyn Nets’ Season?

If Kevin Durant wore a size 17 shoe instead of a size 18, then the Brooklyn Nets may have very well found themselves in the Eastern Conference Finals last season over the Milwaukee Bucks, giving them a chance to reach the NBA Finals with their “Big 3” of Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving.

Durant’s buzzer-beating shot at the end of regulation against the Bucks in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals was ruled a two-pointer instead of a three-pointer due to his left foot barely touching the three-point line.

In overtime, the Nets fell to the Bucks, thus ending their 2020-21 campaign and bid to win a championship. With James Harden playing with a bad hamstring and Kyrie Irving being out due to an ankle sprain, there were definitely excuses to be made for Brooklyn, but the fact of the matter was that they would have to wait several months to get back at it and prove that they have what it takes to win a championship.

Entering the 2021-22 season, the Nets were picked by many to win the Eastern Conference and win their first title in franchise history, but much has changed since Opening Night on October 19.
