3 Ideal Landing Spots For Dennis Schroder After Buyout

Dennis Schroder, NBA Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

It has been a whirlwind few months for point guard Dennis Schroder. He infamously turned down a contract extension worth north of $80 million from the Los Angeles Lakers last year thinking he could make more in free agency. He misjudged his market by a ton, as he ended up signing with the Boston Celtics in NBA free agency.

Schroder agreed to a one-year, $5.9 million deal, losing out on nearly $80 million. It was a steal for the Celtics, as Schroder is worth at least double what they were paying him. However, given some of the salary rules in the NBA, they knew retaining him in free agency in 2022 was going to be difficult.

As a result, Schroder was traded to the Houston Rockets, along with Bruno Fernando and Enes Freedom, in exchange for Daniel Theis. The Rockets are rebuilding around their young players, so there is no real need for Schroder on the roster.

A buyout is likely to occur sooner than later between the two sides. After securing the buyout and clearing waivers, Schroder will be free to sign with any team in the NBA and he will have no shortage of suitors.
