The Orlando Magic did not make any moves to trade away assets at the trade deadline and instead, their PR team won the trade deadline by announcing the acquisition of “Cash Considerations,” the franchise’s next long-term building block. 

Seriously though, Terrence Ross was not moved, even though he was a trade target of the Lakers, and Gary Harris was not traded for even though he had drawn some last-minute interest from around the league. 

Terrence Ross is going to be remaining with the Orlando Magic through the end of the season, as the team has no intentions of buying him out of his contract, but Gary Harris’ status is very up-in-the-air at this point. 

The Magic have liked the production he has given them on the wing and as a veteran scoring option on the perimeter, but Gary Harris is in the final year of his contract and making $20.4 million.

Assuming Markelle Fultz is going to come back at some point after the All-Star break, the Magic are not going to have much playing time to spread out for everyone, meaning that they could look to cut ties with Gary Harris right now. 

In his 8th NBA season, Harris is a proven two-way veteran on the perimeter that can fill a need either at the shooting guard position or as a small forward. 

For his career, Gary Harris has shot 36.2% from three-point range. The Lakers’ need for more shooters around Westbrook, James, and Davis is very apparent, hence why Harris could actually make a solid impact with this team.
