The San Antonio Spurs are a team that many people will be keeping an eye on ahead of the 2022 NBA Trade deadline. While they don’t look like they will be players in the postseason picture themselves, they could have a major part in the playoff landscape around the league.
San Antonio has numerous players that are drawing a ton of interest around the league. It seems as if virtually every player could be had in San Antonio outside of possibly Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell and Josh Primo.
One player we know that the Spurs are looking to move is veteran forward, Thaddeus Young. Young was acquired in the sign-and-trade deal that sent DeMar DeRozan to the Chicago Bulls during free agency.
The Georgia Tech product has been a steady producer throughout his career, but he has been out of the rotation in San Antonio as much as he has been in it. He is averaging career-lows in multiple categories, but when given the chance at consistent minutes, he has continued to produce as always.

It is no surprise that contenders are lining up to try and acquire him from the Spurs. He is one of the likelier players to be on the move this week, but the question remains; who will trade for Thaddeus Young?
One of the teams to keep an eye on is the Minnesota Timberwolves. According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs have held trade talks centered around Young.
“San Antonio remains hopeful to find a trade partner interested in paying draft capital for Thaddeus Young. Minnesota has so far engaged the Spurs in Young conversations with Taurean Prince as a centerpiece, sources said,” Fischer wrote. “League personnel believe Prince would prefer a buyout if he is traded from Minnesota, just as Young is expected to reach a buyout agreement if he’s not moved.”
Much like Young, should Taurean Prince be acquired by the Spurs, he would likely be at the end of the depth chart. A buyout would enable him to pick his next team, as he could latch on with a contending team, as they would line up to sign someone with his skill set.

In addition to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Phoenix Suns would make a lot of sense as a landing spot for Young. If he does hit the buyout market, you can count on teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets getting in on the bidding as well.
