Teams across the NBA are scrambling to make moves ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline and two massive trades were made on Tuesday.
First, in the morning, the Pelicans and Trail Blazers agreed to a deal revolving around nine-year veteran CJ McCollum and then in the afternoon, the Pacers agreed to trade All-Star forward Domantas Sabonis to the Kings.
Trade speculation for the Portland Trail Blazers has been around all season long and after trading Norman Powell and Robert Covington to the Los Angeles Clippers for future assets over the weekend, it seems like a matter of time before McCollum was going to be on the move.
New Orleans had zeroed in on CJ McCollum being at the top of their wish list in recent weeks and now, they will look to make a strong push for the playoffs with McCollum, Ingram, Valanciunas, and Williamson as their core, assuming Zion Williamson is able to play at some point this season.

As for the Pacers, they found themselves in a similar position as the Trail Blazers in the sense that a rebuild was inevitable. Indiana dealt Caris LeVert to the Cavaliers a few days ago for draft picks and by moving Sabonis, Holiday, and Lamb to the Kings, the Pacers were able to add Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield and Tristan Thompson to their roster, bringing a ton of future value and cap space.
The Indiana Pacers and Portland Trail Blazers have been the two most active teams ahead of the trade deadline, but here are some other key storylines and intel to follow over the next 48 hours leading up to the deadline.
