The NBA trade deadline is coming up quickly and the next two weeks will be full of trade rumors, but they will also be full of potential buyout talks for after the trade deadline. 

Over the last few seasons, the buyout market in the NBA has become a key way for playoff contending and title contending teams to add a little bit more talent before the league’s playoff eligibility deadline. 

Last season, Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge, Andre Drummond and Jeff Teague headlined a list of players bought out of their contracts. This season, there are several key veterans once again who could have a big impact on the season should they be bought out of their contracts. 

Of course it is possible that many of the players being listed as “buyout candidates” could very well be traded over the next two weeks leading up to the trade deadline, but there is an outside chance that playoff teams will hold out on a trade for them in hopes that they will reach a buyout with their current organization.
