Reaching the playoffs for the first-time since 2013 last season was a big accomplishment for the New York Knicks, as was the fact that Tom Thibodeau won Coach of the Year and Julius Randle was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player, but this season has not been a success story for the Knicks.

While they did begin the year winning 7 of their first 11 games, the Knicks are just 23-25 and have been one of the most mediocre teams in the league because of the fact that they have no consistency on their roster.

Julius Randle was an All-Star last season and was named the league’s Most Improved Player, but he may be this season’s Most “Regressed” Player! In 46 games thus far, Randle’s averages this season compared to last season are -5.2 points, -0.3 rebounds, -0.9 assists, -4.4% from the floor and -10.0% from three-point range.

Still managing to average 18.9 points and 9.9 rebounds for the year is not bad whatsoever, but the Knicks’ All-Star has looked a lot more like a No. 2 option for a team rather than being the lead guy on a playoff hopeful team.

RJ Barrett has stepped up in recent weeks to aid the Knicks offensively, but this team is only averaging 103.9 points per game (27th in the NBA) and they rank 23rd in the league in offensive rating. In fact, since the start of January, this team is only averaging 101.6 points per game!

If the New York Knicks are to make the playoffs this season, they are going to need to add more scoring talent at the trade deadline. They did just make a move to acquire Hawks’ wing Cam Reddish, but New York really needs a scorer on the wing like Caris LeVert.

The Indiana Pacers acquired LeVert last season during the James Harden mega trade to Brooklyn and while he has been a steady offensive weapon for them, Indiana is open to moving him at the deadline.

Just 17-31 on the season and seeing their playoff hopes fade away, the Pacers are going to be active at the trade deadline in search of leveraging some assets for future value. Could this result in them trading Caris LeVert to the Knicks?

Let’s take a look at a trade proposal put together by Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz that sends LeVert to New York for another key offensive weapon and a draft pick.
