Does this trade make sense for the Toronto Raptors?
Moving on from Pascal Siakam has been rumored for the Toronto Raptors dating back to this past offseason and while they have not shown any interest in moving on from him, the idea definitely looms large within this organization.
Pascal Siakam is not going to get much better than he currently is and while he and Fred VanVleet are two All-Star-like talents in Toronto, Siakam is replaceable because of talents like OG Anunoby, Scottie Barnes and Precious Achiuwa.
The Raptors have big man depth, so they could move on from Siakam should they wish to do so for more future value. The only problem though is that this organization does believe they have what it takes to make the playoffs this season.
This has been a very up-and-down year so far for the Raptors, but at full-strength, they have looked like a strong team in the Eastern Conference. Maybe they will not make it out of the first-round this season should they make the playoffs, but Pascal Siakam is certainly not the problem with this team.

Their lack of depth and bench has been the main problem, which is why Masai Ujiri and the Raptors’ front-office may look to be “buyers” at the deadline instead of “sellers”. Trading Pascal Siakam is a move that could eventually happen, but it is more likely that these discussions will take place in the offseason rather than at the trade deadline in three weeks time.
