Moving Dennis Schroder Could Be Focus
In the offseason, Dennis Schroder’s market was very minimal and there is still some hesitation around the league to trade for him given his lack of perimeter play, but the versatile guard has been having a great season with the Celtics.
In 38 games this season, Schroder has averaged 15.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists and has shot 44% from the floor as a “sixth-man” type of talent for the Celtics.
During the 2019-20 season, Dennis Schroder excelled in a “sixth-man” type role with the Oklahoma City Thunder behind future Hall-of-Famer Chris Paul, which is why this could be his role in the NBA moving forward.
There are some teams with a need for more backcourt depth that have inquired about what the Celtics would want for Dennis Schroder in the coming weeks, but no trade talks have progressed at this time, sources have told NBA Analysis Network.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Celtics’ Dennis Schroder To Be Moved At NBA Trade Deadline?
Big changes are on the horizon for the Boston Celtics and in order for them to truly be a threat again in the Eastern Conference, they will need to be willing to cut ties with several key players on their roster.
Fixing their bench depth and adding more scoring are the two main priorities of the Celtics right now and while adding a third All-Star could really help progress things, it is much more likely that they will utilize their trade exceptions to improve their secondary depth around Tatum and Brown.
Chasing another All-Star remains a possibility, but it is much more likely that Boston will look to do so in the offseason rather than at the trade deadline on February 10.
