Does this trade make sense for the Boston Celtics?
Trading Jaylen Brown would be a terrible move for the Celtics to make this season, even if they are replacing him with another All-Star in Domantas Sabonis. The dynamic duo of Brown and Tatum has worked out so well for the Celtics and they seem to want to keep their All-Star duo together for the long run.
Adding another All-Star to their roster to pair with Brown and Tatum certainly makes sense for the Celtics, but it is hard to imagine that their best secondary trade package of Marcus Smart, Josh Richardson, and draft picks or other young talents will get the job done for an All-Star at the trade deadline.
Having three pretty decent-sized trade packages, one being the largest in the league right now, the Celtics have plenty of options on who they can add to their roster at the deadline to build around Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
While Domantas Sabonis would certainly help them in the frontcourt in terms of second-chance points and paint scoring, there is no reason for this franchise to begin tearing what they have built over the years apart.
