Other Center Options Could Also Receive Greater Interest

Both Mitchell Robinson and Jusuf Nurkic remain possible trade assets as well across the league and for different reasons.

The Knicks are not actively pursuing a trade for Mitchell Robinson, but they could be willing to trade the young center since he is in the final year of his contract and set to become a free agent in the offseason. Should the Knicks still pursue Myles Turner, Robinson could quickly become a “one-year rental” type of player for any team looking for big man depth.

As for Jusuf Nurkic, the Portland Trail Blazers are on the verge of a rebuild seeing as they are 18-25 this season and now without Damian Lillard indefinitely after he had abdominal surgery. Nurkic is in his 8th NBA season and has been a double-double machine this season, recording a double-double in 6 of his last 8 games and in 20 of the 40 games he has played in this season.

Being in the final year of his contract and owed just $12M, Nurkic is affordable and could even fit into some team’s trade exceptions at the NBA Trade Deadline. Portland is looking to cut some salaries to move below the tax line this season and moving on from Jusuf Nurkic is definitely in-play right now.

So again, what is next for the Indiana Pacers and Myles Turner as the trade deadline is about three weeks away?

Trade talks for Turner could very well wait until the offseason now that interest in him could decline given the nature of his foot injury, but there will still be interest in him right now from a handful of playoff contending teams.

Now is the best time for the Pacers to try and capitalize on Turner’s value while it is at its peak, especially since he still has one more year left on his contract, but this foot injury definitely complicated things for Indiana ahead of the trade deadline.
