Christian Wood’s Market Could Heat Up
While there is not a big market or need for centers league-wide right now, Turner’s injury could also impact the availability of guys like Christian Wood (Rockets), Mitchell Robinson (Knicks) and Jusuf Nurkic (Blazers), all of which have been mentioned as possible trade targets for playoff contenders around the league.
Christian Wood is now undoubtedly the best frontcourt player available not only because of the improvements he has made to his game since joining the Rockets last season, but because he has arguably the best contract in the league in terms of value to his team.
Making just $13.6M this season and $14.3M next season, Wood has already been drawing interest from several teams across the NBA, but the Rockets are not going to be so quick to trade away their best talent.
Now would be the best time for them to trade him given that he is set to become an unrestricted free agent following the 2022-23 season and according to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, the Rockets are willing to “listen to offers” for Christian Wood ahead of the deadline.
