Does this trade make sense for the Oklahoma City Thunder?
There really isn’t anything that the Oklahoma City Thunder should not like about this trade!
Kenrich Williams is a role player that is not a long-term building block for this franchise and while maybe Dwight Powell will not hold a role past this season, the Thunder could utilize him given their frontcourt needs.
Coming off a torn Achilles in 2020, Powell has not looked like the same impactful center in Dallas, but he is someone that can be a reliable rebounder and post finisher on offense.
Oklahoma City may just wind up waiving Dwight Powell in the offseason or something, but they get a second-round pick for Williams in this trade and reac the salary cap floor for the season as mentioned before.

If the Oklahoma City Thunder are getting a draft pick in a trade, Sam Presti is going to be interested, which is why they would likely be willing to take on Powell’s contract as an extension of this trade with the Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks.
