Could Kings Field Trade Package For Big Name?

While Buddy Hield has cemented himself as one of the better three-point shooters in the league and one of the better bench scorers, the Sacramento Kings do appear to be interested in moving him for a young talent and a first-round pick.

The Kings would like to also get this kind of value for Marvin Bagley III, but their expectations should be a little lower for the fourth-year forward. Bagley is in the final year of his rookie contract and with him set to become a restricted free agent following the end of the season, his value is lower than imagined.

The former No. 2 overall pick has played well when on the court in Sacramento, but staying healthy has been hard for Marvin Bagley to do. He has played in just over 50% of his team’s total games since being drafted and the market for the 6’11” power-forward is small right now.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Could Kings Be Tobias Harris Suitor In Ben Simmons Trade?

Plenty of teams would be willing to trade a second-round pick and a role player for Bagley at this point, but almost no teams in the league have shown interest in trading a first-round pick for him at this point, especially given that they could have a shot at signing him outright from under the Kings in the offseason even though he is going to be a restricted free agent.

Packaging Hield and Bagley together for another high-level talent is something that definitely interests the Kings’ front-office and the idea of pairing said high-level player with De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton is very appealing. However, the Kings’ front-office seems torn between whether or not they should be “buyers” or “sellers” at the trade deadline.

A lot of this decision will factor into whether or not guys like Ben Simmons and/or Domantas Sabonis are truly available at the trade deadline. Philadelphia’s unwillingness to adjust their asking price for Simmons could result in the Kings having to turn their attention to Sabonis and the Pacers.

While it was said in December that the Pacers were going to be entertaining offers for Caris LeVert, Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis, things have definitely changed over the last few weeks.
