Jerami Grant is one of the most sought after trade deadline targets this NBA season and for good reason. Since signing a three-year, $60M deal with the Detroit Pistons last season, Grant has quickly become one of the best two-way combo-forwards in the league.

Last season, Jerami Grant averaged 22.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and shot 42.9% from the floor. In 24 games with the Pistons this season, Grant has averaged 20.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and has shot 41.4% from the floor.

While his numbers have decreased slightly, many teams around the league are still regarding Jerami Grant as the best two-way player available at the trade deadline, resulting in the Pistons having to make a big decision about his future.

With his contract set to expire at the conclusion of next season, the Pistons could very well take this opportunity to trade Jerami Grant not only while they have him, but while his value is at an all-time high.

The 27-year-old forward is undoubtedly a high-impact player and while he is out right now due to right thumb surgery to repair the UCL ligament, there are no long-term concerns about Grant’s availability to come back and continue being a key talent at either forward position in this league.

Jerami Grant basically fits in with any team in this league, hence the vast amount of interest in him, but one team that was mentioned as a possible suitor for the versatile forward by Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer is the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Since the start of the 2004-05 season, the Timberwolves have been to the playoffs just once and they have had just one season with a winning record. Currently 21-22 this season and having a strong looking trio in Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards and D’Angelo Russell, now is the best time for the Timberwolves to become “buyers” at the trade deadline for once.

Towns, Edwards and Russell have all been great for Minnesota this season, but the rest of this team has definitely struggled at times. They are a Top-10 defensive team based on defensive rating this season, but the Timberwolves rank just 21st in offensive rating and could really use an upgrade on the wing next to Anthony Edwards.

Could Jerami Grant be the final piece in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ playoff puzzle? Let’s take a look at what Minnesota could look to offer Detroit for their best talent.
