Does this trade make sense for the Los Angeles Clippers?

As mentioned earlier, trading away contracts to save money now and moving forward definitely makes sense for the Los Angeles Clippers given that this season seems like a lost-cause at this point.

However, if they are to trade someone like Marcus Morris Sr., then the Clippers need to guarantee themselves immediate future value. Coby White would do this, but Derrick Jones Jr. is nothing more than a salary-dump move and a 2027 second-round pick is useless.

Should the Clippers be interested in “selling” at the trade deadline and get future value for guys like Morris, they are going to be wanting first-round compensation, not a second-round pick in 2027 because they already have seven second-round picks through 2028.

Seven of the Clippers nine total draft picks through 2028 that they have are second-round picks, which is why getting a first-round pick anywhere from 2022-2025 could be very valuable for this franchise.

Maybe Coby White is someone Los Angeles’ front-office views very highly of from a value perspective long-term, but this is not necessarily the best trade the Clippers could pursue in the coming weeks to add value to their roster.
