This Rockets-Sixers Trade Is Focused On Ben Simmons

Would this trade make sense for the Houston Rockets?

This trade would be a tough one for the Houston Rockets fans to swallow considering how well Christian Wood and Jae’Sean Tate have been. Losing Eric Gordon isn’t as much of a blow because he doesn’t fit on the team’s current timeline, but both Wood and Tate are still only 26 years old.

However, hopefully, most of them would see the bright side of this deal. As controversial as Ben Simmons has become, he’s still a perennial All-Star in this league. Putting him alongside Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr. for the future would be elite.

Simmons would be able to playmake for those two young studs, Green especially. He could even run some center for the Rockets, with Porter Jr. taking on the playmaking duties. If Simmons can become open to playing different roles, then he could be one of the best, most versatile big men in the entire league.

It’s just a matter of Simmons’ attitude, at that point. He made it known that he wants to play in California. While that may not matter to the Sixers since they can trade him wherever they want, it should matter to those trading for him. If he’s just going to be miserable the entire time and want to leave at the end of his contract, it’s not worth trading for him.

That being said, if the Houston Rockets knew that Simmons would be willing to buy into what they are doing in Houston, then this trade would absolutely be worth it. He’s a generational talent, and if they could use him the right way, he’d lead them to plenty of playoff runs.
