Philadelphia 76ers Receive: C Christian Wood, G Eric Gordon, F Jae’Seasn Tate, 2025 First-Round Pick

This may not net Daryl Morey the All-Star he wanted, but it gives him three, high-level rotational pieces to work with. All of which would be able to help Joel Embiid chase a championship this season (something Ben Simmons clearly is not doing right now).

Simmons, despite not having played a game this year, is still one of the best defenders in the league by a long shot. He’s one of very few players who can legitimately guard positions one through five, and there’s a high chance that he’ll take home at least one Defensive Player of the Year award throughout his career.

Christian Wood is playing super well for the Houston Rockets this year. The UNLV product is averaging 17.4 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while shooting 48.0 percent from the field and 35.2 percent from three-point range.

Eric Gordon is having a major resurgence this season after missing most of the season last year. The veteran guard is putting up 14.9 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists while shooting 50.4 percent from the field and 45.6 percent from behind the arc.

Jae’Sean Tate has also played well in his sophomore season, and the 26-year-old provides a nice energy boost on both ends of the floor.

Again, the important question has to be, why would each team make this trade? Would the 76ers finally settle on an offer and trade Simmons for win-now pieces? Would Houston mortgage some of their promising players in order to take a risk on Simmons?
