Derrick Favors has bounced around a handful of teams through the years, but he is a veteran big man that has been a very reliable rebounder and rim-protector to this point in his career.
Seeing only 16.0 minutes per game in Oklahoma City has forced his numbers to drop considerably, but this should not take away from what kind of player Favors is.
For his career, the 30-year-old big man has averaged 10.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and has shot 53.3% from the floor. The Thunder acquired Derrick Favors from the Jazz ahead of this season as a salary dump move by Utah, but the Thunder are expected to try and deal the veteran ahead of February’s trade deadline.
The Thunder have built a very strong looking backcourt with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddey and Luguentz Dort, but their frontcourt still remains a mystery.

Derrick Favors and Mike Muscala are not long-term answers at the center position and both Darius Bazley and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl have been inconsistent options at power-forward.
Bringing in P.J. Washington to be their starting power-forward would solve a lot of the issues Oklahoma City has at the power-forward/center positions and he is yet another young, versatile and athletic talent they would add to one of the most promising looking young cores in the league.
Charlotte is not eager to trade away P.J. Washington and they have not been actively trying to move him, but they should be willing to entertain offers for him ahead of the deadline.
Being nothing more than a role player for the Hornets in the frontcourt, Washington is expendable to Charlotte and is one of their only ways to add talent to their roster in attempts to make a real playoff push this season.

Mason Plumlee has been good, but not good enough to make the Hornets’ frontcourt playoff-quality. Derrick Favors is certainly an intriguing name to keep an eye on at the deadline this season and could find his way to Charlotte.
