The San Antonio Spurs are a rebuilding franchise in the NBA right now and while they have been one of the most dominant franchises over the last two decades, the end of an era is now in San Antonio.

With young talents such as Dejounte Murray, Keldon Johnson and others, the Spurs definitely have a strong foundation set up, but this team really does not have much of an identity. Gregg Popovich’s group is very mediocre on both offense and defense this season, which has led them to having a 15-25 record 40 games into the season.

There is an outside chance that the Spurs could sneak into the playoff picture out West due to the play-in tournament, but it is unlikely that they would actually be able to claim either the 7-seed or 8-seed in the playoffs. So where do the Spurs go from here?

In the Eastern Conference, the Atlanta Hawks are not a rebuilding franchise, but they have a lot of problems to try and sort out leading up to the trade deadline in less than a month. Trae Young and Co. are currently 17-22, on the outside of the Eastern Conference playoff picture looking in.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: New York Knicks Have Trade Interest In Hawks’ Cam Reddish

After making it to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, the Hawks have seemed to hit a roadblock and they truly do need more talent if they are to make a run not only in the playoffs, but to the playoffs at this rate!

With limited cap space, not only does trading Danilo Gallinari seem like a strong possibility, but so does trading third-year wing Cam Reddish.

The Hawks do like what they have in Reddish and do not necessarily want to trade him right now, but they have been open to talking about him on the trade market and he could present them with the necessary value they need to jump-start their season right now.

After giving long-term deals to Trae Young, John Collins, Clint Capela and Kevin Huerter, the Hawks do not have much cap space moving forward to bring in the talents that they need to be successful in the Eastern Conference.

Tying themselves down to Cam Reddish, who is extension-eligible this upcoming offseason, could be too much to ask for, hence why they could look to trade him ahead of the trade deadline.

Seeing as they are rebuilding and should be interested in adding more young talents this season, could the San Antonio Spurs look to pull off a big trade with the Atlanta Hawks not only to absorb Danilo Gallinari’s contract, but bring in Cam Reddish as well?
