Would this trade make sense for the Atlanta Hawks?
For the Atlanta Hawks, this may seem odd. However, despite the fact that they are coming off an Eastern Conference Finals run, they are struggling to compete for the play-in right now. Pretty soon, it could be time for them to consider drastic changes, and their GM, Travis Schlenk, even hinted at this.
Sending John Collins to Minnesota would net them an elite sparkplug scorer and three young players who can defend well. The backcourt combination of D’Angelo Russell and Trae Young might seem odd, but the scoring punch would be immaculate.
In addition, adding Josh Okogie, Jaylen Nowell, and Naz Reid would give Nate McMillan some more defensive-minded players to play with in his rotation. The Hawks have been struggling on that end this year, so that could be of serious interest for them.
Giving up Collins would be the best way for them to make major changes. They could look at trading the likes of Bogdan Bogdanovic and/or Danilo Gallinari, but they wouldn’t hold nearly as much value as Collins does.

However, there is a chance the Atlanta Hawks could field better offers for Collins. If they wanted to take a stab at someone like Ben Simmons or an elite defender of that nature, they might look the other way. But if not, this could provide a nice shake-up.
