3. Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks have totally revamped the way they play basketball under Jason Kidd, almost by accident. After years of being an offensive juggernaut that couldn’t slow down opponents, the Mavericks are now a great defensive team that struggles to score the basketball.
Should the team refind their groove offensively, as the team’s key 3-point shooters are all experiencing a drop in shooting percentage this season from last season, they could make some noise. If the defensive improvements aren’t a fluke, this is a team that will present a challenge in the postseason.
Not a team afraid to make a big trade, the Mavericks will be aggressive looking to make moves. The frontcourt is where they could look to make an upgrade and John Collins would be a great fit.
Collins would be an excellent third option behind Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. He could find a bigger role with the Mavericks as well, as there are four players, those two in addition to Jalen Brunson and Tim Hardaway Jr., that are attempting more shots per game than Collins.

With his versatility to play either frontcourt spot, Collins can be a strong pairing alongside Porzingis. He is also an improving defender, so he can take on the tougher assignment, leaving Porzingis to focus on being a rim protector.
Collins offers efficient 3-point shooting and some rim protection, making him an ideal target for the Dallas frontcourt.
