1. De’Aaron Fox
If the New York Knicks are going to swing a big trade, it will likely come at the point guard position, where they still have a long-term hole. While many fans will clamor for Damian Lillard, his health is a real question mark right now.
If the Knicks make a big trade, it will be to push for a playoff spot. With talks of Lillard being shut down, that will take him off the board. If management doesn’t want to wait for a potential deal involving Lillard down the road, they could turn to the Sacramento Kings and De’Aaron Fox.
The Kings are desperate to make a push for the postseason. They have missed the playoffs 15 consecutive years, which ties the longest drought in NBA history. That isn’t a record they want to have to themselves, so they will be aggressive in pursuing upgrades.
As a result, there isn’t a player on their roster that is off-limits. Ownership has given the green light to management to seek out trades to accomplish their goal of making the postseason and setting the organization up for the future.

The organization would prefer to build up around De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton, but if improving the roster means parting ways with Fox, so be it.
The Knicks would love to add a player of De’Aaron Fox’s caliber to their backcourt. At 23-years old, he has plenty of time to still develop into a top-end point guard in the NBA. He would provide dynamic scoring punch alongside Julius Randle and RJ Barrett, but he needs to improve defensively.

New York would be taking a risk given his shortcomings on that end of the court, but given how dire the situation has been in recent seasons at the point guard spot, a trade for De’Aaron Fox is a risk worth taking.
