Someone has to eventually make a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers for Ben Simmons, right? Simmons remains away from the team, being fined for every game that he misses, as he works on his mental and physical health.

Could the New York Knicks be a team that gets in on the Simmons sweepstakes? It would be hard to pinpoint exactly what they have to offer that would pique the 76ers’ interest, as Philadelphia has a specific list of players they want in return. But, it wouldn’t hurt the Knicks to at least inquire and gauge the market.

Ben Simmons would bring a lot to the table that New York is missing. He is an elite playmaker, providing them a long-term answer at the point guard position should they decide to use him there instead of in the frontcourt.

Defensively is where the Knicks could really use Ben Simmons. They have struggled to slow down their opponents consistently this season, but Simmons would help change that. Having someone like him in the fold would instantly improve the team’s defense as he is arguably the most versatile defender in the NBA.

With the potential to fill their long-term hole at the point guard position, the Knicks cannot leave any stone unturned. Ben Simmons has his flaws, especially offensively, but adding a 25-year old multi-time All-Star and All-NBA Defensive team member to your squad has its positives.
