Would this trade make sense for the Atlanta Hawks?
This trade would be putting another All-NBA-level player next to Trae Young for the future. Ben Simmons is only 25 years old still, so he and the 23-year-old point guard would be able to thrive together in Atlanta for years to come.
Some may think it’s weird to have two point guards as the faces of a franchise, but Simmons is so much more than that. At 6-11, Simmons could effectively play any position the Atlanta Hawks choose to play him in.
What would probably work best for them as a team would be to run him at the small forward position. A lineup of Young, Kevin Huerter, Simmons, John Collins, and Clint Capela could be lethal. They should also explore lineups with Simmons at the center position.
Having a defender of Simmons’ caliber would completely transform how the Hawks play on that end of the floor. He would be able to cover up some of Young’s defensive weaknesses, as well as guard the opposing team’s best player on a nightly basis.

The combination of offense and defense on that roster would be impeccable, and Simmons could even act as an elite pick n’ roll man alongside Young. This is a duo that would have the potential to dominate the league for years.
