Making the Eastern or Western Conference Finals is no small feat in the NBA, but it does not always mean that you are one of the best teams in the league either. A lot of things factor into how a season plays out and last season, all the stars aligned for the Atlanta Hawks to take down the Philadelphia 76ers en route to the Eastern Conference Finals.
However, this is starting to look like somewhat of a “fluke”, as the Hawks are just 17-20 this season and trying to get back into the playoff picture. Trae Young has continued to look like one of the better overall point guards in the league, but between injuries and health protocols, the rest of this Hawks roster has really struggled.
As a team, Atlanta ranks just 27th in defensive rating and their depth is definitely in question right now. Both Bogdan Bogdanovic and Danilo Gallinari have not lived up to the value of their contracts since joining the Hawks last season and with this team not having any salary space over the next few years, it is going to be extremely difficult for them to grow and also retain talents.
Both De’Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish are going to be entering the final year of their rookie contracts next season and as a result, Atlanta may have to wind up choosing between the two forwards.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Cam Reddish, Danilo Gallinari Most Likely Hawks To Be Traded
There were some discussions around the 2021 NBA Draft of the Hawks looking to move Reddish for a draft pick or two, but no real trades ever emerged.
Now, Cam Reddish continues to be a name popping up in trade rumors and given that he has been one of the only productive offensive players on the Hawks’ roster, his value is definitely high. The Hawks need to make some kind of a change quickly if they are to make the playoffs this season and getting value for Reddish is something that could highly interest them.
Should Reddish be available on the trade block, plenty of teams will show interest in the 22-year-old wing and one of those teams could very well be the New York Knicks.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Cam Reddish, Danilo Gallinari Most Likely Hawks To Be Traded
After being the 4-seed in the East last season, the Knicks have really struggled this season and are in a very similar situation to that of the Atlanta Hawks, the team that beat them in the first-round of the playoffs a season ago.
It is hard to imagine these two teams coming together to get a deal done, but the New York Knicks do need more offensive talent on their roster and Cam Reddish could really help them out on the wing.
