The Golden State Warriors are humming right along in the 2021-22 NBA season, tied with the Phoenix Suns for the best record in the league at 29-8. Things could get even better, if possible, for the Warriors as they are about to get Klay Thompson back in the lineup in the near future.
Thompson has been sidelined for more than two years because of injuries. The last time that he took the court for an NBA game was Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors. He tore his ACL in that game and the following November while working out in preparation for the season, he ruptured his Achilles.
His return is highly anticipated by Warriors and basketball fans alike. Already looking like title contenders this season, Thompson will just cement that fact, especially if he returns anywhere near as productive as he was when he left.
As any contending team, Golden State is going to be looking to make some upgrades to the roster, if need be, to put them in the best position to win a title. The blockbuster trade many presumed the Warriors would pursue seems unlikely to happen, as there are reports that they are absolutely not trading James Wiseman, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
