2. Marcus Smart
The Atlanta Hawks could really use some help on the defensive end of the court. They have been counting on De’Andre Hunter for that defensive impact, but he has failed to stay healthy.
If they are going to go outside of the organization for more help, the Boston Celtics could provide the solution in the form of Marcus Smart. Smart is someone that the Hawks showed interest in last season and could very well be interested in again this season.
Smart would be a perfect complement to Trae Young in the team’s backcourt. He could spearhead the team’s defense and take the toughest perimeter assignment. The Hawks do a lot of cross-matching with Young defensively, so having a capable defender next to him would make it easier to match up.
Offensively, Smart provides some playmaking, another thing that would only help the Hawks’ offense. While his shot selection is sometimes spotty, Smart can provide a little 3-point shooting as well. Being further down the pecking order for shots could lead to better efficiency from the field from him.

Whatever Smart provides the team offensively would be a bonus to the improvements he would help lead the defense to.
