Harrison Barnes Potential Trade Target For Chicago Bulls

Harrison Barnes, Chicago Bulls, Sacramento Kings, NBA Trade Rumors

The Chicago Bulls have been one of the best teams in the NBA thus far this season. There were some worries that they would struggle to find fits for some of their additions, but they have proven all of their doubters wrong.

Chicago is currently 25-10, only one game behind the Brooklyn Nets for first place in the Eastern Conference. Billy Donovan has pushed all of the right buttons, as the team is rolling despite virtually everyone on their roster entering health and safety protocols at least once.

Chicago has had three games postponed thus far and has had arguably the toughest path to navigate. It has been weeks since they had their regular rotation to deploy as they have dealt with numerous injuries in addition to COVID-19 issues.

That has not slowed them down, as they are riding a five-game winning streak, which is tied with the Utah Jazz for the longest currently in the NBA. If anything is going to trip up the Chicago Bulls, it is their depth.

DeMar DeRozan, Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso have been excellent additions. DeRozan and Zach LaVine are one of the best scoring duos in the NBA this season. Nikola Vucevic is rounding into shape after a bout with COVID and finding his niche with the team.

But, there is little beyond that group of players for Donovan to rely on, especially with Patrick Williams sidelined with a wrist injury. There isn’t a single player that comes off the bench that averages double-figures, which could prompt them to make a deal in the coming weeks.

Addressing their depth, especially in the frontcourt, is key. One player they could target is Harrison Barnes of the Sacramento Kings. Barnes is one player that the Kings will reportedly listen to offers about and the Bulls would be smart to check in on his availability.

Barnes would be an excellent fit in Chicago. His skillset would allow him to fit in seamlessly as he has experience as a glue guy. His 3-point shooting would help open things up even more for DeRozan and LaVine to work inside the arc.

The Chicago Bulls have the 10th rated defense in the NBA thus far and Barnes would help keep them at that level, if not improve them. He is extremely versatile, capable of playing both forward spots and in a pinch can play small-ball center.

However, Harrison Barnes will not come cheap. He is arguably the Kings’ best trade asset, so they will hold out for the best package that they can get if they decide to become sellers leading up to the deadline.
